About the Program

Developed with inspiration from the Inland Press Foundation and supported by the Inland Press Foundation and the SNPA Foundation, the Executive Development Program helps small-market publishers and emerging leaders build the skills and experience to lead local journalism organizations.

The curriculum is tactical, developmental, and inspirational, giving participants exposure to multiple disciplines. Sessions are led by industry veterans and professional leadership trainers who provide an overview of the business of newspapers and a roadmap for the skills needed to succeed.

It's an ideal program for prospective publishers and general managers — or for current publishers and general managers looking to advance their skills and gain exposure to new areas.

What You'll Cover

Who Should Apply

Motivated newspaper leaders looking to take the next step in their career. The ideal participant is a newly identified leader with some management experience, or a seasoned leader who needs to learn new skills and tactics.

Publishers of small newspapers, general managers, sales leaders, editors, and managers from other disciplines — from local newspapers, regional operations, or corporate offices — are ideal candidates.
